Lusine - Melting Days

On Melting Days, his tenth full-length as Lusine, Seattle’s Jeff McIlwain returns to the immersive minimalism of his earlier work, crafting ten luminous pieces where subtle rhythms, ascending loops, organic textures, and shifting layers move in constant suspension. More atmospheric and inward-looking than his recent, song-oriented releases, the album unfolds with a cinematic sense of progression, drawing on ambient, experimental electronics, and the rhythmic instincts that have defined Lusine’s work for over two decades. Reverberant saxophone, processed cello, shimmering tones, and understated percussion gradually accumulate into richly dimensional soundscapes that evoke water, air, light, memory, and the spaces between them. Born from a period of personal reflection and transition, Melting Days carries a palpable sense of loss without weighing it down, instead letting beauty, movement, and gradual transformation emerge from the haze.
