Dustin Craig's Headphone Science has been out and about now for some time with CD releases on True Call and No Type as well as countless net label releases on the likes of Observatory, post-digital, n5MD's Enpeg imprint as well as his own highly respected IVDT imprint. Thankfully we now have his latest on Symbolic Interaction to chew on as it has been some time since we've heard him on shinny silicon. *Painted* starts in a very dark place, an almost sinister amalgam of drone, glitch and field recordings surround the listener in an almost calculated move to cleanse the aural palette. With each song the album gets increasingly more melodic, melancholic and even latently hopeful. Recommended.
